Reading reflection 2

1.
The book Mind Set argued that there are two types of mind sets. The two types are fixed and growth.

2.
The book enhanced what I am learning in ENT 3003 because it pushes you to change the way you think. The book is all about changing your thought process to help you achieve your maximum potential in life. In the book there was a chapter that was focused on business owners with a fixed mind set and owners with a growth mind set. The book compared both owners based on how there businesses performed, and there was a huge difference between both owners. The business of the owner with the growth mind set always performed better.

3.
I would create a very hard exam, and tell the class that this exam can only help you. If you decide not to take it, it will not hurt your grade, but if you do take it, it can only help your grade. The students who decide to take it probably have a growth mind set, but the students who decide not to take it probably have a fixed mind set.

4.

One thing that I learned that blew my mind was the fact that people with the growth mind set usually fail, because they take more chances. On the other hand people with the fixed mind set do not fail very often because they only do what they are comfortable doing.

  1. Hey Austin, this book seems very interesting. You made a nice review as well. It makes sense that people with "growth mindset" fail more, than the fixed and stable mindset. Although people with the fixed mindset will never have the chance to be innovative and that's their downfall. People with the growth mindset may fail, but they will learn and create something innovative. Great Job!

  2. Hey Austin! I also read Mindset and I thought this book was great! I also thought it was interesting that those with the growth mindset tend to fail more than others. As you stated, this is because they take more risks. In addition to this, something you did not mention is that as their name describes, despite those with the growth mindset failing more often, they are the one's who tend to succeed more often as well. This is because those with the fixed mindset are less likely to try new ventures, and tend to stay where they are comfortable. This leads to stagnation, while those with the growth mindset will grow their businesses.
